Read for My School
, an exciting new national initiative for students in years 5 and 6 brought to you by The Pearson Foundation and Booktrust, and supported by the Department for Education.

Reading for pleasure is at the heart of this challenge. It is hoped that it will generate excitement about books and cultivate long-lasting positive attitudes towards reading. Read for My School is designed to be fun, easy to organise and will give participating students the opportunity to win rewards for themselves and their schools. Students will be encouraged to read widely, discuss their reading and recommend books to friends.

- When: Spring term 2013

- Who: Any pupil in year 5 or 6 attending a primary school in England that registers

- What: An easy-to-run initiative that will capture the imagination of pupils and see them challenged to read a set number of books during the specified period

- Why: A fun way to cultivate a school reading culture with great rewards for both schools and individual pupils who take part
